Comatose Guild Charter
Preface
As I was writing this I realized that players that do not know me might get the wrong idea from this. I do not mean to come off as an arrogant asshat thinking I am always right. Here's the Reader's Digest version of this entire post (please continue to read the whole thing =p ):
Our end goal is to have fun. That being said, there's nothing that says you can't have fun while still abiding by a few rules and guidelines. These are our guidelines. That's it, plain and simple. This post is simply to inform you, a player in Comatose, what the officers are expecting out of each player. We won't kick you out of the guild for somthing stupid or trivial. We just want to have fun. And sometimes - having fun requires players to follow the rules...
This covers most guild guidelines/rules including some regarding raiding with Comatose. For more specific Raid rules, see the Raid Expectation post.
Mission Statement
Comatose is a raiding guild designed to progress through the all PvE content in the World of Warcraft. We want your experience in Comatose to be fun, friendly and drama-free. But at the same time, understand that there does need to be some structure while raiding, and some rules will be enforced.
Code of Conduct
We expect all members to use common sense. Anything going against Blizzard's ToS is stictly forbidden. Unsavory actions not specifically outlined in the ToS are also frowned upon. This includes, but it not limited to, begging for; gold, equipment, or enchants, spamming any chat channel, or being generally disrespectful to any WoW Player. We expect all guild members to behave as an ambassador to the Comatose guild.
When asking for help, try not to get angry if no one responds immediatly. Often times other players are busy and may not be able to lend immediate assistance. Members can also post on the fourms if they need help with a specific quest line or instance. We want to help our guild members in every way we can, but it is ultimately up to each member to ensure their goals are met. This includes anything regarding in-game currency (gold), and items such as mounts.
We ask that all members police themselves. There will not be a detention or "time-out" rank. Players participating in inappropriate behavior will be confronted and warned not to do so again. Continual reprimands may result in the member being removed from the guild. We don't want any drama.
Communication
Chat Channels
Public Channels
Comatose expects all players to be mindful of what they say in all chat channels. It is never OK to bad mouth another player, regardless of the channel. Players speaking in public chat channels (Trade, General) are ambassadors of the guild, and should carry themselves as such.
Guild Chat
When speaking in Guild chat be mindful of your guildmates. Please refrain from discussing controversial topics such as religion, politics, and The History Channel. If you wish to discuss these topics with another guild member please do so in wispers, a private chat channel, or outside of the game entirely.
Party/Raid Chat
When in a raid please keep raid chat relevant to the current task at hand. This is especially true for boss enounters. Information about upcoming and occuring boss abilities will be displayed in the raid channel and any misc. chatter will clog the chat window.
If you wish to talk to a certain player, it is advised to whisper them as you will likely get a quicker response.
When in doubt - don't say it.
See the Raid Expectations post for more info regarding communication in raids.
Website/Forums
The guild website will be the primary form of communication within the guild. As such, all members should familiarize themselves with the layout and content of the website. Players are encouraged to start and reply to threads in any relevant topic. The more players we have actively using the website, the better we will be.
Ventrilo
General
The Ventrilo server is provided for players to use while playing WoW. The server is available to all Comatose members without restriction. We ask that players not give out the Ventrilo server information to players not in Comatose. If players outside of the guild join a mostly-Comatose event (5 man or raid), they are, of course, welcome on the server for the duration of the event. Please be mindful that there is a limit on how many players can be on the server at any given time, and log off of Ventrilo when you are not playing WoW.
Communication on the Ventrilo server falls under the same rules as communicating via in-game chat channels. Please rembember to be mindful of others that are on the Ventrilo server.
Raids
During raids, we ask that players keep chatter to a minimum. The channel should be kept clear for instuctions from the Raid Leader and Raid Assists. This is especially true for boss fights. When clearing trash mobs, we do not mind if players chat in the Ventrilo channel - it can make clearing trash less monotonous. But, at all times, please keep the topic and comments clean and appropriate.
During either boss encounters or trash pulls it is not nessecary to call out player deaths, going OOM, and CC breakage, unless specified ahead of time by the Raid Leader. The Raid Leaders have addons available to assist them in recognizing these events. Please allow the Raid Leaders and Assists time to call out critical events on Ventrilo before offering your assistance.
Raid Schedule
Wednesday 6:30 - 9:30
Thursday 6:30 - 9:30

Please see the Raid Expectations post for more information if you wish to raid with Comatose.
Guild Ranks
Guild Master
Fancy Title... Handles promotion of Officers. See Officer rank for more info.
Officer
Guild officers should be treated the same as the Guild Master in Comatose, as they carry the same aurthority. Typically officers will be leading raids, although other members may be asked to assist. Officers are experts in their class, and usually other classes as well. All guild members can come to any Officer with any problem. If the officer can not help you, he/she will redirect you to someone that can.
Officers have access to all Guild Bank tabs, and have the final say in all matters.
Raider
Primary raiding rank, and will get priority invites to raids - assuming they meet the requirements. Raiders are members who have shown a strong desire to raid. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Signing up, and showing up ontime - You won't come if you don't sign up. It's not fair to the rest of the raid to have to wait on you.
- Doing research - About their class and the encounter.
- Being able to figure out the majority of things by themselves, such as enchants, gems and gearing that is optimal for their spec.
- Have gear and spec that is appropriate for their role while raiding.
- Being able to answer questions about their class and spec to players of Member and Recruit ranks.
- Coming prepared goes a very long way in raiding. Players that always come with their gear 100% repaired, all applicable consumables, reagents, and gearsets will find themselves with the Raider rank.
- High raid attendance. While we do not have a set number of raids we require any member to come to, those that are very consistant are extremely helpful to Raid Leaders. Players that have sudden drops in attendance may find themselves back at the Member rank, unless notifie is made ahead of time.
Raiders have increased access to Guild Bank tabs, currently this is tabs 1-3
Member
We understand that not all players will be able to maintain a consistant raid schedule, or have a desire to raid at all. The Member rank is for those players. Players in the Member rank will have options to raid, but they will not be given priority over those of Raider rank. Available spots will be determined by encounter, class need and signups.
Members have limited access to bank tabs, currently this is tabs 1-2
Recruit
Players in the Recruit status are very new to the guild. While in Recruit you will be asked to go on raids so the Officers can determine your play style. Players in Recruit status will NOT be able to roll on gear drops in instances, but will be able to gain DKP as per Comatose's loot dirstribution system. After the Officers are satisfied with your evaluation, you will be promoted to Member status. This can be anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks, depending on the Recruit's schedule and playtime.
During your time as a Recruit, you will not have access to the guild vault.
Note on raid invites:
Priority invites only apply to Progression instances. For the time being, this includes all 10 and 25 man instances. 5 man instances do not apply.
See the Raid Expectation post for more.
Levels
Since we are a PvE oriented guild, most of our members will soon be level 80. Lowerer level characters may be invited if they are relatively close to level 80. Extrememly low level characters do not fit into Comatose's structure right now. Alt characters are always permitted, as long as your main is in Comatose. RL friends and family members are always welcome, regardless of level.
Alternate Characters
Alts are always allowed in the guild for any player of Member status or above - regardless of level. Alt characters will be given the same permission as the main character as far as Guild Bank privledges, et al (read below for more detail). For right now, alt characters are not allowed in a raid, except at the Raid Leader's discretion, and will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Any player wishing to switch their main character may do so at any time, but please notify an officer. Players of Raider rank (or wanting to be Raider rank) should read the Raid Expections post for additional information regarding alts in raids.
Guild Bank
All items in the Guild Bank(GBank), including any gold, will be used to further progresssion for the entire guild. This could be for purchasing resistance items, enchanting materials, or gems from the Auction House. Certain types of items will be restricted to ensure that they are being used for the correct purpose. This will typcially only be high quality items that are either typically used mainly in raids, or are very hard to come by. Members are not required to donate to the GBank, but are always encouraged to. Donations to the guild bank should be treated as a donation to furthering the guild's progression. Items or gold donated to the GBank may not be able to be returned to the donator. If you are worried about not being able to use something, place it in your own bank or bag inventory.
The GBank is broken down into basically 3 sections: Member, Raider, Officer. Each section may have 1 or more tabs associated with it. Each section will be restricted based on guild rank. Having access to 1 section will also give access to the lower sections. If there is an item in a section that you do not have access to, ask an Officer for that item. As long as the request is reasonable, the item will be granted.
Officer
This section will be restricted to Officers. Contents will include most epic quality items, and hard-to-find patterns. Rare crafting materials (such as those only found in raid instances) including Enchanting and Jewelcrafting materials will also be held here.
Raider
This section will be restricted to Raiders. Contents will include most blue quality items, most profession patterns and materials. Most consumables such as; buff food, temporoary weapon buffs, potions and flasks will be in the Raider tab aswell.
Member
This tab is unrestricted (except to those in Recruit status). Contents will be any reputation based items (such as Marks of Sargeras, Coilfang Armaments), low level buff food and potions, and other misc common drops.
Final Words
Our goal is to have all of our members enjoy their time playing WoW while in the Comatose guild. We want you to look forward to logging in, not dread it. But, as stated before, we are a raiding guild. And as such, many of our actions and guidelines will be to advance the guild in preperation to raid. If you have any questions, please direct them to any of the Comatose Officers.
